We’re Hiring an Executive Director!
With bittersweet feelings, Waterside Workshops is announcing the departure of Executive Director Neil Larsen this summer. Neil has been with Waterside since 2015, helping to grow the organization first as Assistant Director, and stepping into the role of Executive Director in 2020.
We are hiring our next Executive Director (ED), who will be responsible for leading and growing Waterside’s youth-serving programs and ensuring that Waterside is fulfilling its vital mission in the community. Providing leadership to a hard-working and passionate team of 15+, the ED oversees the operations of Waterside’s three social enterprises: Street Level Cycles, Berkeley Boathouse, and Waterside Cafe. The ideal ED candidate will be an experienced leader with a passion for youth development, outdoor education, sustainability, equity, and social justice.
While leaving Waterside was not an easy decision, Neil and his family will be moving back to Seattle in June. Neil’s deep commitment to Waterside’s mission will be missed across all levels of the organization, including staff, board, and youth participants. At the same time, we are excited to welcome a new leader who will continue to build Waterside’s movement to provide hands-on job training for Bay Area youth, helping to increase economic mobility.
