Our youth interns had the opportunity to go sailing aboard Pegasus, a 51 foot wooden ketch that took us around the San Francisco Bay! With the guidance of the crew, interns hoisted the mizzen sail, tied bowline knots, and practiced using a sextant.
All of the interns agreed that sitting on the bowsprit was a highlight. “It felt like I was part of the boat,” Elena said. “Like I had a first-person view of what the boat was seeing.”
We look forward to partnering with the Pegasus crew to bring more interns on voyages in the future!
