This Giving Tuesday, help Waterside Workshops give away 100 kids bikes!
On Saturday, December 9, Waterside Workshops is hosting a special Kids Bike Giveaway event. By making a donation this Giving Tuesday, you can help us reach our goal of giving away 100 free kids bikes and helmets before the end of the year.
Our bike giveaway programs prioritize increasing bike access for marginalized communities impacted by systemic inequalities, including:
– Low-income households
– Black, Indigenous, and People of Color
– Immigrants and refugees
– Families and individuals experiencing homelessness
– Women, transgender, and gender expansive individuals
– People with disabilities
To support our December 9 event and future bike giveaways, we are aiming to raise $10,000 by the end of the year. Every kids bike we provide costs us around $100 in labor, parts, and supplies. By donating today, you can help make biking more inclusive and accessible for young people in our community.
We also invite you to join our Winter Festival on December 9 from 12-4pm. We’ll have cookie decorating for kids, gelato from Berkeley’s Passione Emporio, and tamales from Oakland’s Tamaleria Azteca. We will also be selling bike accessories and handcrafted wooden gifts built by from our boat shop interns, making this a great chance to do some holiday shopping. We hope to see you there!
