Canoe-Kayak Hybrid Build

We have successfully designed and built a new canoe-kayak hybrid for our rental fleet! For awhile we were using/borrowing plastic double kayaks. In all that time there was angst with the idea of using a plastic boat that we did not build ourselves; making that available to the public for rentals and for our students to use did not seem right. So, when we had a little down time between some projects, we designed this little boat with a half-model. Construction was straightforward with 1/4 inch plywood; a simple three-board bateau style construction. Simple, but really well balanced and lightweight…lighter than the Rotomolded plastic kayaks. This kayak is available for rent now at the Berkeley Boathouse!
