Our Summer Boatshop Camp concluded last week! A group of 11-14 year old students spent each day working with hand tools, building paddles, and learning traditional techniques of boat building.
For many students, this was their first experience with woodworking or going out on the water. They brought Waterside’s fleet of canoes, row boats, and kayaks into the Berkeley Aquatic Park and the San Francisco Bay, enjoying incredible views of East Bay and San Francisco skyline.
The summer camp equipped students with new woodworking skills, a knowledge of safe practices when using hand tools, and confidence paddling on the water.
