This year’s Boat Camp was so much fun! Everyone was super positive and enthusiastic with their projects. We started off building beautiful wooden paddles that students used to paddle in the Bay and later took home. This project gave everyone a good snapshot of working in a boatshop. Students learned to use various tools to lay out, cut, and shape their paddles. Some students even picked up something else and just went to town with it, like building model boats, or making repairs on some of our bigger boats.
Toward the end of each day, we went out on our fleet of wooden vessels. We learned how different types of boats function.
Then, the last couple of days of cam,p we finished up our projects. We took our Hawaiian out on the Bay. The weather was perfect and the Bay water was perfect swimming temperature.
We can’t wait till next year’s Boat Camp!
